Electronic Prescribing, a computer-based means of communication, provides a solution to the challenges that many retail pharmacies are facing today with the increasing volume of prescriptions and shortage in pharmacists.
Reduce the risk of errors associated with illegible written prescriptions.
Have a patient prescription ready by the time the patient arrives at the pharmacy. Electronic prescriptions can flow directly into QS/1’s pharmacy management software prescription processing queue.
Speed up the prescription refill process by eliminating the time your pharmacy staff spends phoning or faxing refill requests, allowing your staff more time to provide patient care.
QS/1 works with SureScripts, ProxyMed, WebMD and RxNT to establish electronic communication between physicians and pharmacists and to provide a secure network for exchanging prescription information.
It was announced at the 2005 NCPA conference that only 5% of independent pharmacies have registered to receive electronic prescriptions, while the majority of large chain pharmacies have already registered. Pharmacies who aggressively encourage e-prescribing with high prescribing physicians in their areas will begin driving more volume.
There was a January 2006 surge in e-Prescribe volume almost tripling the previous month and nearly nine times higher than the monthly average of the last two years. QS/1 has also seen twice as many customers registering to receive electronic prescriptions in the last six months with more than 10% of our customers already registered. Even though electronic prescriptions represent less than 1% of all prescription volume, nearly 80% of all e-Prescribe transactions occurred in the last 12 months with the average active QS/1 pharmacy receiving nearly a dozen e-Prescribe transactions in January 2006. The predicted e-Prescribe volume surge is starting to materialize and more volume means ever lower transaction charges.
To support our goal of improving patient safety, QS/1 does not charge a monthly fee for our software nor do we charge any software setup or maintenance fees. In fact the average QS/1 pharmacy that has registered to receive electronic prescriptions, spends less than five dollars per month on e-Prescribe transaction fees.
With QS/1, you can register for free to begin receiving electronic prescriptions from SureScripts, Emdeon (formerly WebMD), or both. Simply complete our Electronic Prescribing Registration Authorization Form, and fax to QS/1 Services at 864-253-8690 or call 800-845-7558 X7339 if you have questions or wish to have a copy of the form emailed to you.
