QS/1 has been monitoring the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) since it was signed into law on August 21, 1996. The goal is to bring data-standard unity to healthcare transactions and provide assurance that confidential patient information will be as safe as, or safer than, paper-based patient records.
QS/1 has devoted programming resources to HIPAA changes and our software systems are now fully HIPAA compliant. We have also worked with third-party administrators and other business partners to monitor their HIPAA compliance. QS/1 has tested these intermediary programming efforts to ensure that they are ready to accept standardized HIPAA-compliant transmissions.
