Wisconsin Enhanced Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (WI ePDMP): New Data Submission Frequency and Data Fields
Effective Saturday, April 1, 2017, a new data submission and correction frequency is required by the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS). Effective Sunday, April 9, 2017, the Wisconsin DSPS requires pharmacies to submit the names of persons picking up Schedule II or Schedule III prescriptions, unless an exception applies.
Effective Saturday, April 1, the new requirements are:
- Pharmacies are required to submit data or zero reports to the WI ePDMP no later than 11:59 PM of the next business day, after the monitored prescription drug is dispensed. A business day is defined as any day DSPS is open. The definition of business day does not include weekends or state holidays. Click here for a list of state holidays.
- Pharmacies have five business days to correct errors in previously submitted data. Records with errors are not loaded into the database until they are corrected to ensure the accuracy of data in the WI ePDMP for all users. There is no threshold for the acceptance of records with errors. It remains the responsibility of the managing pharmacist and pharmacy to ensure known errors attributed to the pharmacy are corrected in a timely manner. It is strongly urged that you create a PHARMACY account, if you do not already have one, to monitor and correct errors attributed to your pharmacy, even if the records were submitted by a vendor or central office.
Effective Sunday, April 9, the new requirements are:
- The Wisconsin DSPS requires pharmacies to submit the names of persons picking up Schedule II or Schedule III prescriptions, unless an exception applies. Please see Wis. Stat. 450.11 (1b), for information about the requirements to collect the information. Once the information is collected, it must be submitted to the WI ePDMP. The most recent Data Submitter Reference Guide provides more information about submitting the data. Future updates to the Data Submitter Reference Guidewill be made available on the Training Materials page of the WI ePDMP website.
- All Schedule II or Schedule III dispenses submitted to the WI ePDMP must include the required information or they will be in error.Note: If the record is delivered to a healthcare facility, the record may be corrected by entering “E” in the first name field and “3” in the last name field to indicate that the exception to reporting in Wis.
