Spartanburg, SC – July 23, 2010 – The onset of smartphones means no one is out of touch. QS/1 is tapping into this technology to help keep customers in close contact with their pharmacy. The release of mobileRx will allow people with browser-enabled phones to refill prescriptions while on the go.
“You can go anywhere now and find someone using a smartphone to check email, websites, or even view videos,” said Charles Garner, QS/1 Market Analyst. “Why not use that same technology to help you manage your prescription refills?”
Participating pharmacies can promote the service to allow patients to submit prescription numbers that need refills. QS/1’s mobileRx will interface with their Pharmacy Management System to start the refill process.
“Pharmacy customers are already used to automated filling solutions such as Interactive Voice Response and the pharmacy’s website,” Garner added. “This gives them another avenue to request refills. And most customers are already using their smartphones to browse the web.”
mobileRx uses the phone’s web browser to send requests for refills. The customer enters the specific website address of the pharmacy or they can go to a generic site and enter the pharmacy’s phone number to connect. Once on the pharmacy’s mobileRx site, the customer enters the prescription numbers they wish to refill. They can even authorize the pharmacy to contact the doctor should refills not be available.
QS/1 unveiled mobileRx at their annual customer conference in Greenville, South Carolina in mid-July. Pharmacy staff can visit www.mobilerx.net for a demonstration of mobileRx and to see how their business can harness the power of smartphones for their benefit.
