QS/1’s Point-of-Sale Meets PA-DSS Certification Standards
Spartanburg, SC –September 22, 2009 – QS/1 is pleased to announce its Point-of-Sale system meets certification as set forward by the Payment Application Data Security Standards (PA-DSS).
PA-DSS, formerly known as Payment Application Best Practices, is the global security standard created by the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council. The goal of this group is to ensure software vendors are utilizing a common set of standards to protect consumers from credit card fraud and identity theft.
“Identity theft and financial loss due to careless management of sensitive data is a growing problem around the world,” says Sonny Anderson, QS/1 Vice President of Development and Systems. “QS/1 worked to ensure our Point-of-Sale systems met the stringent requirements of the PCI Council to allow our customers to better protect the personal and financial information of their customers and remain compliant with the most current PCI regulations.”
These regulations, among other things, prohibit merchants from storing prohibited security data including magnetic strips, CVV2, or PIN information.
Vendors obtaining this certification are included in the list of payment applications that have been validated as PA-DSS compliant.
