New Point-of-Sale

QPath Blog Logo

The customer conference was exciting for Point-of-Sale (POS) customers as I reviewed updates, demoed the new SharpPOS, and showcased our new hardware. If you were unable to attend or would like a review, here are the highlights.

Recent & Upcoming Updates

Verify with DOB at Checkout: With this option turned on, you must enter a patient’s date of birth (DOB) before proceeding with a transaction. If the DOB entered does not match what’s on file, an alert will prevent you from proceeding to checkout until the DOB is confirmed. This additional safety check is another way to protect your patients and ensure they are receiving the correct prescriptions.

Birthday Pop-up: This feature was a popular request from customers at last year’s conference and from our Customer Connection, and we’re excited it’s now available. A pop-up will display a reminder for patients who have a birthday coming up within the next 14 days (you can adjust the date range to meet your needs), which will allow staff to improve customer service by offering patients a personalized birthday wish at the register.

Inventory App: This web-based program runs on any device, so you can use your cell phone or tablet. Paired with a Bluetooth device for scanning, you can count inventory simply by scanning an item, entering the new on-hand amount, and moving on to the next item. You can also run variance reports on different dates. This app is convenient and will give you time to focus on what matters to you.

SharpPOS

I was very pleased to present the new SharpPOS and get your feedback. It was great to not only receive feedback on the items we modified and improved but also on features that are still in development. Those in attendance were happy to see significant improvements, including:

  • Automatic SIGIS file updates.
  • The ability to check out and issue a refund in the same transaction.
  • Unlimited department keys.

New Register

I was also excited to unveil a new register that will drastically reduce the footprint of your current register(s). The new register will run the current POS system and SharpPOS. After the presentation, I walked into the Expo to see if customers were as enthusiastic about the new register as I am, and there was a line of people waiting at the booth to see it!
