INSIGHT - Summer 2020

Summer 2020 | 4 Quick Clicks & Tips COVID-19 Prescription Alert in NRx ® and PrimeCare ® The North Carolina Board of Pharmacy (NCBoP) mandated that all COVID-19 medications have a diagnosis code on the prescription that coincides with the virus before pharmacists can dispense them for that reason. Z-pack is one of those Rxs. Other BoP may follow suit. To remind your staff to pay special attention to COVID- related prescriptions before filling: 1. Go to the Clinical section of the Drug Record. 2. Under Notes, turn on Override Required , and add comments accordingly. Therapeutic Interchange Indication If you have NRx set up for therapeutic interchange, you can indicate when a drug is interchanged on the label. y From the User Defined Literals window, the 253 and 254 literals are populated with “Substituted For.” y The label design uses Routine 253 in front of Routine 65 (Drug Not Dispensed, If Two Drugs). If you fill a medication with a normal generic substitution, “Substituted For” prints on the label, but it will also automatically print “Interchanged,” if you selected a therapeutic interchange drug. New SCRIPT Standard There’s much to gain from implementing the NCPDP ® New SCRIPT Standard Version 2017071, but there’s little you need to do within your pharmacy management system to start using the new message types. y Be on Service Pack 19.1.30 or higher. y Enable the New Script (2017071) Format option. For NRx: 1. Access Store Control > Store Level Options > Rx Filling > Electronic Prescribing Options . Check the box to Send RxFill Messages under Rx Filling > Electronic Prescribing Options . Save your changes. 2. Select the user from the list and scroll to ePrescription Access under the Prescription Access menu of the Pharmacist/Technician Security Rights section.
